Laser Tag H06 – Wiring up components

Love Jesus, Love Code

In this section, we wire up the components and the controller. I have taken regular photos of the build. Approximate time 1-2hrs.

Wire in the negative wires
Wire in the positive wires
Wire in the data cables (various colours are used for these wires)

Test the gun to see if it lights up. The lights are on but nobody is home – the gun is not programmed to respond to anything at this stage.

Potential improvements

There was a lot of soldering required to put the gun together. It might be easier to use a dupont crimping tool. They can be purchased quite cheaply online. E.g. SN-28B+1550Pcs dupont crimping tool pliers

I left some original trigger wires connected, the red colour could be confusing as it does not reflect being a +ve power line.

Christian Content

For it was You who created my inward parts;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You
because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful,
My bones were not hidden from You
when I was made in secret,
when I was formed in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began.

Psalm 139:13–16 (HCSB)

As you create something like this, and you see it come together, there is a sense of amazement and accomplishment.
Very often, maybe even all the time, when we make something we make it for a purpose. In the case of this laser tag gun, it is made to be part of a bigger game of laser tag down the track.

This Bible passage reminds us of how God views us. Just like I put this gun together for a purpose, God knit us together in our mother’s womb, and he did it for a purpose. You were made for a purpose, and you are important to God.

When you build something like this gun that I built, it’s hard not to develop some kind of attachment to it. Likewise, God has a certain attachment to his creation. And this attachment begins when you were in the womb, before you were even born.

Before these Guns are even operational, I already felt an attachment to them. This is before they can actually do anything. It’s what it’s like to be a creator. And it’s how God the creator feels about us, before we could even do anything, he had plans for us.

Verses like this teach us that people, even before they are born, even before they can do anything productive, are still valuable. And this is why Christians often value life, they value life in the womb, and they value the lives of people who are less productive in our society due to disability or old age.
